Kapsaret MP Oscar Sudi has applauded the Pope Francis' visit in Kenya, saying it will attract foreign investors.
He said the pontiff's tour indicated the country was free from insecurity threats.
Speaking at Langas market in his constituency on Sunday, Sudi said the visit demonstrated that Kenya was a safe destination.
"In the recent past Kenya has been portrayed as a terror hotbed, but the visit by the Pope has shown that Kenya is safe," Sudi said.
He said that the tourism sector will receive a boost from the visit and will ensure stability of the country's economy.
"I urge foreign media houses to report responsibly by not portraying Kenya as a war torn country, that scares investors," he said
He said that negative reporting of Kenya leads to shying away by foreign investors and tourists from investing and visiting the country respectively.
"I was very encouraged when Pope Francis said that he doesn't fear terrorists but mosquitoes, so why should we fear?" he wondered.
