Youth unemployment is one of the major areas that the Jubilee government promised to tackle.
In the Jubilee party manifesto, it promised to create one million jobs per year but this has not been the case three years since the Jubilee government got into power.
All is not lost, though. The government has been trying to end youth unemployment by creating other avenues like the National youth service and also with the proposed banking ammendment bill, the youths in businesses will get some breathing space.
The bill, if passed into law, will ensure commercial banks reduce their lending rates. The banks will charge as low as 4% interest rate on loans.
The major drawback for youths engaged in businesses is the high-interest rates that banks charge on loans.
This has put off many unemployed youths who had dreams of venturing into business. With the banking ammendment bill, many youths will throng banking halls to get business loans and start businesses instead of lying idle in estates and engaging in fishy deals.
