Eligible voters in Kibera have been called upon to register at the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) offices.

Registration countrywide begun today.

According to Raila, the area in the past has been having very slow absorption of continuous voter registration and he would like that to end.

Raila who was speaking in the area on Saturday called upon all residents to ensure that they have their voices heard come 2017 and that would only be achieved through registering as voters.

“All I want is to see all of you register as voters so that we can get the top seat at ease come 2017,” he said.

It is believed that thousands of eligible voters, who mainly constitute the youth who acquired their ID cards after the last elections, are yet to be registered as voters.

An interview with some youths who had just received their new identification cards revealed that most of the residents were not aware of the continuous voter registration exercise despite the IEBC posting voter registration notices at various strategic spots.
