Kisumu County governor Jack Ranguma has put road contractors on notice as a measure of ensuring quality roads are done in the county.
Ranguma said some contractors were doing shoddy work and drawing huge money from the county.
“Money paid to the contractors is public money generated trough tax. I will not condone any contractor who takes that money for doing shoddy work,” he said.
He said he has formed a service delivery unit in his office who will certify that the road works have been done to required specifications.
The governor who carried out an inspection of roads in Seme sub county on Wednesday said no contractor will be paid if the works is not satisfactorily done.
“I need the help of the public here, as much as I have put in place service delivery unit, I want the public to be very vigilant and monitor how the roads are being done. Poor work, no payment,” he said.
Ranguma further asked the public to carry out monitoring and evaluation of all county government projects including roads, schools and hospitals among others and raise any complaint with his office.
