Residents and traders at Weavers market have expressed their fears over a sewage that passes right through the market.
Speaking on Friday, the residents said that they were now staring at an epidemic and called upon the relevant county authorities to move first and take action against tenants whom they accused of channeling the sewage to the center.
"Whenever it rains, some tenants chanel sewer water into small streams that navigate through this market hence the predicament we now find ourselves in. Our own safety is now at stake as a result," said Irene Kemunto, a trader at the market.
Her sentiments were echoed by Tom Njiru who said that the market had started experiencing stench owing to the filth. Deborah Kairu a resident also expressed her apprehension over the state of the market saying that diseases such as cholera could arise anytime.
