Residents of Nakuru West Constituency have joined hands to raise funds in aid of the 12-year-old girl whose face was allegedly burnt during prayers at their house two weeks ago.

Speaking to this writer, businessman Hamisi Ngutu who is spearheading the drive, said they visited the family to assist them as they are their neighbours and the family is financially challenged.

“You know in Nakuru we are always discussing politics but I thought it would be a good idea to once in a while refrain from political discourse and do some good,” said Hamisi.

The Standard Seven girl is said to have been burnt during an exorcism-like-prayer session when members of the Roho Mowar Church paid a visit to their home in Pondamali.

It is claimed the members wrapped the girl who was alone in the house in a red cloth, sprinkled some kerosene on her and lit some candles.

Unfortunately, the cloth caught fire and the girl’s face was burnt on one side.

“It is very sad and as residents of the larger Nakuru West, we have come together to do the least we can for the traumatised girl who is receiving treatment at the Nakuru Provincial General Hospital,” added Hamisi.
