Nakuru residents are now appealing to the county to tame street preachers in Nakuru.
They pointed out that the new regulations that were passed by the government least week should see the preachers stopped from preaching in public places or in areas of relaxations.
Speaking to the press on Monday at Nyayo Gardens, They pointed out they often interfered with the peace that they were seeking after.
“Every time one goes to relax at the Nyayo Gardens over the lunch hour and to take a nap they appear from everywhere and start preaching. They even fight for space as they are too many. Something needs to be done to control them,” said Mary Mukiri, a resident
Paul Kosgei wondered who issued permits for them to preach on the streets.
“They should also be banned by NEMA and arrested by the council officers as we require our peace,” said Kosgei.
Mwangi Maina said that there was also a notorious preacher at the Gilanis Road.
“We would like to know who issues such licenses to them or if they are just fake preachers who are out to intimidate people by making them think they are sinners,” he added.
They appealed to the Pastors Association to also help out in weeding the wrong pastors.
“They are the ones who know the genuine ones and can tell us who is out to fleece cash from us,” said Francis Kariuki.
