Residents and business people in Rironi ward Limuru sub county have urged their area Member of Parliament (MP) John Kiragu to push for repair of roads in the area. The locals claim that road networks in the area are in poor condition and has been made worse by the ongoing rains.
Speaking to this Hivisasa writer on Thursday at Rironi town in Limuru , the locals said that poor roads have hampered their daily activities.
“Our roads are in pathetic condition and we are appealing to our area MP Mr. John Kiragu to push for their repair and renovations,” said Michael Mburu, a boda boda rider at Rironi.
The boda boda operator cited that the Gitogothi-Rironi-Limuru road, Rironi-Gatimu road and the Kamirithu-Rironi-Limuru road saying that the roads have so many potholes. The locals further said that their activities are being sabotaged by poor road networks especially this time when the area is receiving heavy downfall.
They want the Kiambu government to immediately start the repair and renovation of the roads.
“As business people in this area, we are losing money every day because of poor roads,” said Jane Karanja, a trader at Rironi trading center.
Ms. Karanja who farms cabbages said that it has been difficult for her to reach the Limuru market where she sells the produce because of muddy and impassable roads.
The residents also want the county government to improve the drainage system. The locals complained that poor drainage has led to rain water stagnating everywhere.
Speaking in a different event at Kamirithu trading center, area MP John Kiragu said that he was pushing for proper road renovations. The MP assured locals that road repairs will start immediately stating that he has communicated the matter with the Kiambu government.
