Road users along Mangu-Kwanduka road have raised concern over the on-going road repairs which they said is causing heavy traffic jam especially during rush hours.
Speaking from the area on Wednesday, Joel Ikenye, a matatu driver said that they are making losses as a result of the repairs since they are not able to make as many trips as they usually do.
Ikenye suggested that traffic police should be deployed along the road to direct vehicles to the opposite lane which is not normally busy since most vehicles move in the same direction during rush hours.
"Traffic police can help us reduce traffic jam even as the construction continues; we embrace the road rehabilitation but better mechanisms of directing motorists to use alternative routes should be put in place," said Nancy Warigia, a passenger.
Efforts made by this Hivisasa write to speak to the contractor were fruitless as workers on the ground refused to give both mobile and office numbers of their bosses fearing consequences.
The road construction in the area commenced in October 2015 and the residents expect it to be concluded by February 2016.
