A group of professionals from Rongai have launched a drive aimed at sensitizing youths on the importance of registering as voters.
In a seminar held in Rongai town on Wednesday, it was agreed that young people be educated on why they need to register before the March 15 deadline.
Led by Dr Shem Tega, a lecturer at Presbyterian University of East Africa, they believed that such a move was necessary.
"We are doing this because of the realisation that our young people are suffering because of lack of knowledge, for them to transform our society, they should vote in good leaders and that begins with having a voters card," he said.
The more than 15 professionals have formulated a timetable that will see them traverse all wards within the larger Rongai sub-county encouraging youths to participate in the exercise.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) launched a countrywide month-long voter registration exercise targeting about 4million people.
