BakuliA section of residents and business people in Ruaka town have urged the police to intensify patrols and assure them of their security this festive season.

Speaking on Sunday, the residents want the police to increase patrols and curb any instances of crime that may crop up this festive season.

Marion Chirchir, a shop owner at Ruaka town said that criminal activities are common during the festive season and that it will be important for security officials to intensify surveillance.

She said that though crime rate has reduced in the area it will be necessary for law enforcers to maintain law and order.

“Law enforcers should be on alert and guarantee us our security this festive season,” said Joseph Mumia, a taxi operator.

Mumia said that the area has in the past experienced instances of crime adding that police will have to ensure security of residents and business people.

The residents said that they are ready to work with the police to ensure law and order is maintained in the area.

Alex Mburu, a community policing representative in Ruaka said that mechanisms have been put in place to guarantee security of residents.

He said that police officers will work with residents to ensure security is guaranteed. He urged residents to cooperate with the police saying that it will help in the fight against crime.

Speaking to the public at Limuru Town on Sunday, Limuru OCPD Mohammed Bakuli said that security will be intensified across the sub county.

Bakuli asked residents to be on alert and report cases of crime warning that some people might take advantage of the festive season to advance their criminal activities.
