Kiambu County youth have been advised to seek funding from the government, in a bid to realise their innovative ideas.
Speaking at Kikuyu Town when she launched a car washing business for the Kikuyu Football Club on Saturday, County Youth Director Marie Mugo said that the government is funding innovative ideas.
The youth director said that young people have innovative ideas that can change lives.
She stated that the county government is running programmes aimed at identifying and sponsoring innovative ideas.
“We want to encourage young people who have innovative and entrepreneurial ideas to seek for funding so that they can actualise the ideas,” she said.
The official noted that many challenges facing the society can be addressed through innovation.
She added that the government will partner with other stakeholders to ensure young innovators are funded and taken to the next level of development.
Ms Mugo also encouraged the youth to apply for government funds in order to actualise their business ideas.
She said the county government had taken the initiative to train and sensitise youth on entrepreneurship with the aim of fighting unemployment.
