Kakamega Senator Bonny Khalwale and his driver on Saturday morning survived a mob after the Senator's vehicle knocked and a killed a woman instantly at Chereber-Kondoo junction at Burnt Forest.
Confirming the incident, Eldorer East OCPD Nelson Taliti said the Senator's driver was over speeding when the woman crossed the road.
He said the driver tried to apply brakes to save the lady but it was too late for her.
"We have launched investigations on the incident so that we can come up with conclusions on what exactly happened," Taliti said.
"At the moment, the Senator's driver has recorded a statement at Kondoo Police station and the vehicle has been detained for investigations."
He urged drivers to be careful while driving.
Taliti also urged drivers to avoid over speeding to avert accidents.
