Seven people on Sunday night perished in a grisly road accident at the Ngata bridge along the Nakuru-Eldoret highway after a truck rammed into a matatu they were traveling on.
Witnesses said the driver of the truck which was traveling to Nakuru tried to avoid hitting a fuel tanker from behind when he lost control and rammed into the oncoming 14-seater matatu which was headed to Eldoret.
Drivers of both vehicles were among the casualties with the matatu losing a total six passengers while the lorry had one casualty in the 10.30 pm incident.
The injured were rushed to St Mary hospital Gilgil while the bodies were taken to Umash funeral home.
