At least 200 sex workers from Nakuru Town have urged the government to protect them against a serial killer targeting them.

They said that a suspected serial killer could be on the prowl with sex workers and called on the government to offer them protection like other Kenyans.

The sex workers aired their grievances as they escorted a body of a 20 year old sex worker who was found murdered inside a Nakuru hotel for burial at Molo sub-county.

Waving placards and twigs, the angry women chanted “sex work is our right and the government should protect us ".

They also urged the government to arrest the suspected killer.

"We are not going to rest till the suspected killer is arrested ", said a sex worker who sought anonymity.

He added: "We want police to investigate this matter and arrest the culprits."

There are reportedly over 4, 000 sex workers in Nakuru town who depend on this trade to earn a living.

Although prostitution is illegal in Kenya, sex workers have been advocating for legalization.

They have also been supported by activists and organizations advocating rights of sex workers and even some health experts have called for its legalisation and regulation.
