Uasin Gishu County government has announced plans to rehabilitate street children.
Speaking in his office on Saturda, Uasin Gishu County Governor Jackson Mandago said street children also have the right to live in a good environment.
"In this Financial Year, my government has set aside Sh30 million to provide education and other services to street children," he said.
He said the money will also be used in the rehabilitation and construction of rescue centres where the street children will be taken and also buy clothes for them.
"I want the street children to get a place where they call home where they will be protected from the harsh weather conditions they are used to in the streets," he said.
He however said that the process of uniting street children with their parents will continue in an effort to remove street children in Eldoret town.
"We will only enroll street children who do not know the whereabouts of their parents in our rescue centres," he said.
