Uasin Gishu County Chairman of Small Scale Farmers Association has cried foul over discrimination in distribution of subsidised fertilizers by the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) to farmers.
Speaking to the press on Wednesday, Enock Kogo said farmers with small pieces of land are discriminated when the fertilizers are given out.
He claimed that those with big parcels of land are always given first priority.
"It's sad that despite us applying to be given fertilizers three weeks ago, none of our members has been given despite paying for them. What we see is prominent farmers being given several kilograms of fertilizers while we are discriminated because we pay small amount of money," he said.
He said farmers with small farms should also be respected and given priority since they are also Kenyans.
"We want the process of giving out fertilizers to be transparent and be given on merit of first come first serve," he said.
He urged agriculture CeC to intervene to salvage the situation.
