Kisii governor James Ongwae has told Kisii MPs and County Assembly members to ensure that students from needy grounds can access bursary funds.

Ongwae said there was confusion on the parallel bursaries but said by merging of the kitty, there will be effective disbursement of the bursaries to needy students.

"I urge the MPs to meet with MCAs so that can they put mechanisms on how disbursement of the bursary funds will be done. This will help eliminate bias the disbursement of the fund," he said.

He said there was need to organise for a joint assembly comprising MPs and MCAs early next year to discuss on how they would effect the merging of bursary allocation.

He told Assembly Speaker Ondieki Okerosi to spearhead the exercise.

Ongwae said the county, in the current financial year, has allocated a bursary of Sh225 million to 45 wards in the county, translating to Sh5 million per ward, up from Sh3 million in the previous financial year.
