Two men who have been posing as Kenya Power and Lightning Company (KPLC) staff were on Monday arraigned before a Machakos Court to answer to charges of extracting money from residents illegally.
The two, Mathew Mutisya and Msikari Katulu were arraigned before Chief Magistrate Lucy Mbugwa.
The two are accused of allegedly stealing electricity poles from isolated areas and asking unsuspecting residents to pay for electricity connection fees.
The accusers, KPLC told the court that the culprits had allegedly conned residents more than Sh3m.
Some of the areas where the two are said to have carried out their scheme include Ivani, King'atuani, Kaewa and Kathiani in Machakos County.
The prosecutor however urged the court to grant them seven days to complete their investigations and obtain evidence.
