Education Cabinet Secretary, Fred Matiang'i, has said that teachers will start receiving their September salaries from Monday, November 30.

“Had discussions with TSC Secretary, consulted with colleagues Attorney General and CS Rotich. Teachers’ September salaries to be paid from tomorrow,” said Matiang'i through his twitter handle.

Matiang'i also said that he will hold a consultative meeting with members from the Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut) and the Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers (Kuppet) on Monday Morning to discuss more on the teachers' pending issues.

"I will also spend a good part of the week meeting with and listening to stakeholders in the education sector," he added.

The move comes barely 2 weeks after Uhuru Kenyatta had intervened in the teachers’ pay dispute and asked their employer to pay them the September salaries.

The teachers have been in and out of court since January, fighting for an increase in their basic salaries.
