Being too serious with life is something I highly discourage. Simply because it lowers the lifespan of an individual.
However, taking in too many jokes makes one lively. You tend to take things as they come. Having been in Kibera for some time, I have observed the behavior of people and I can say their lifestyles are a bit funny.
These people take life as it comes. Check those who sell roasted maize on the road side. These are people who bend down and pick a wrapper to cover your maize when you buy it. It is quite funny that the wrapper is actually the maize leaf.
As people shop in big supermarkets and malls, you do not care since you are entitled to the carton box or paper bags given in the supermarkets to carry your shopping home. In Kibera things are a bit different. While shopping, you should carry your shopping baskets with you. If not, then carry your paper bag. Can you imagine buying cooked lunch packed in a light sugar bag but again you need to carry your own paper bag that is not transparent to hide your lunch. It is somehow funny but here it is normal.
While you are busy teaching your children about table manners, there is little children here know about table manners. They can buy their meals and sit outside, eat as they play. Take life as it comes. Don’t force things, this will only earn you misery.
