Thika West Assistant Sub-County Commissioner Jane Wanene has assured residents in the area of their security.
Speaking in Thika during a meeting with the local leadership on Tuesday, Wanene vowed to ensure police patrols are intensified in the area and also called upon the residents to cooperate with the authorities in matters security.
She assured Thika residents that security had been beefed up especially in anticipation of the forthcoming festive season.
The assistant commissioner said that police officers will be providing 24-hour surveillance along Garissa road which will be manned by police in a bid to ease traffic congestion especially during rush hours and ensure security of the people.
Wanene also announced the completion of the Athena and Kiganjo Police Posts which were constructed courtesy of the Thika Constituency CDF kitty.
She promised to ensure that the two posts were staffed and fully operational as soon as possible.
Wanene also called on Thika administrators to show diligence in the way they execute their duties.
She said the government would continue enhancing their work adding that it is their mandate to chair security committees within their areas of jurisdiction.
“You are always called upon to make sure that you deliver your duty with diligence, commitment, and fairness. The government will continue to allocate resources to facilitate your work especially on mobility. The National Security Council has given you the mandate to chair security committees. It now recognises that the assistant chief is the chair of the sub-location security and peace committee,” she said.
Present at the meeting were officials from Thika CDF Committee, Thika East Assistant County Commissioner Priscilla Mutethia, The Deputy District Administration Police Commissioner Mr Andrew Ndegwa among others.
