Residents of Manyatta estate have complained about the delayed commencement of construction works for a road that was to be tarmacked last year.
Construction works for the road connecting Mosque and Corner Mbuta has taken long to start even after the contractor erected a billboard announcing repair works had began.
Residents who live along the road are now getting irritated after they were forced to bring down their houses and business premises to pave way for the construction of the road that would reduce the time used by commuters from Mosque to Corner Mbuta.
Earlier, the road had many pot holes and the county government had promised residents to tarmac the road to ease access.
“I had a hotel along the road, I brought it down after we were asked to create room for the road repairs. Since late last year nothing has been done on the road and when it is dusty it affects us, same to when it rains since water is logged in the open holes,” said Saida Ahmed.
Ms Ahmed said they were hoping the road would be completed faster since they were given notice to leave their areas of work months ago, but ever since the graders and bulldozers cleared the area for the road, nothing has been done.
The residents complained that the road is getting worse since it has been left and yet a new financial year is few months away.
Efforts to reach the Kondele Ward Representative Gabriel Ochieng proved futile as calls made to him went unanswered. Text messages sent to him were nor replied.
The MCA had promised to push for the repair of the road.
