TSC has bound to KNUT chairman, Wilson Sossion’s threat to call on a teachers strike.
Sossion had promised to mobilise teachers to strike again if the TSC was not going to drop punitive union membership validation exercise. Sossion took to his Facebook account on Monday to inform the teachers that the validation process, which started on November 24, had been dropped by TSC.
He further went on to say he still continues with the collective bargaining agreement and will treat it as his first agenda. However, TSC boss, Nancy Macharia said the commission did not continue to carry out the exercise based on complaints from 10,000 teachers on forged membership in KNUT and KUPPET.
The union has been facing financial problems for four months. Some teachers have gone without salaries while the KNUT chairman said the union had to sell their things to auctioneers to pay for their bills.
Teachers have been striking frequently and pupils suffer a lot. This has affected the pupils’ performance.
