Two men were arraigned before a Nakuru court on Wednesday for attempted theft of over Sh46 million from the Kenya Commercial Bank, Nakuru branch.

According to court papers, the two, Alex Waiyaki Ndung’u and Daniel Kimani Ngugi are accused of plotting to steal Sh46,858,232 on December 8, 2015 at a place that has not yet been established in Kenya.

The two, however, denied the charges before Chief Magistrate Liz Gicheha and were freed on a Sh600,000 each with a surety of a similar amount.

The case will be heard on March 26.

In another case, a man accused raping a minor was arraigned in a Nakuru court on Tuesday.

According to the prosecution, the suspect, Godfrey Mwenda Musyoka, defiled a 12-year-old girl at Warubaga village in Elburgon in Nakuru County on December 15, 2015.

The girl's mother who is one of the witnesses, told the court that the suspect, a shamba boy, convinced her daughter to go to his room claiming that he had bought her chips. 

She further said this was the second time the suspect had committed the heinous act.

In his defense, Mwenda denied the claims stating it was a ploy by the mother who is his employer not to pay him his salary which is now in arrears of Sh12,000 as she had not paid him for four months.

The case will be heard on March 16, where the prosecution is expected to present more witnesses in court.
