Gem MP, Jakoyo Midiwo, has said that President Uhuru Kenyatta's' tour to the coastal region will not weaken the support of the ODM party in the region.

President Uhuru Kenyatta made a week-long trip to the area which was marked by the issuance of title deeds to Waitiki land owners. He also promised to bring development of infrastructure among others.

Midiwo has said the trip was useless since the President did not address land reforms. He claims the president did nothing special to the people.

The minority leader in the parliament was speaking at Sirembe Secondary School in Gem sub-county on Tuesday. He added that the Jubilee government only gave empty promises to the residents. The MP said the promises will never be implemented just as it has been the governments habit. He insisted that they will tell coast residents the truth about land issues.

"We do not want to go to coast as if we are reacting. There is nothing important to react to. They went there and took goodies. We will go there because we have a campaign in Malindi." Midiwo said.
