An MP from Nyamira County has received rare backing from a group of professionals from the region amid claims and counter claims of use of the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) kitty and his administration.
Mr Ben Momanyi who represents Borabu constituency has been under immense pressure from a section of his critics, who accuses him of favouring his Kiabonyoru backyard when rolling out projects in the constituency.
However, a section of professionals led by Mr Elijah Mongare, a Nairobi based lawyer, on Monday hailed the MP for his ‘tangible’ projects in the constituency but urged him to consider involving members of the public to plan for projects.
“I don’t think he has done badly as being exaggerated by other politicians. As professionals, we have visited a number of health centers and schools that have received funding from the CDF and it’s our unanimous agreement that Momanyi is doing fairly well. Maybe what he must consider in future is involving members of the public when planning for projects,” he said.
His sentiments were supported by Dr Charles Okibo who particularly urged residents to support water projects that are being rolled out across the constituency by the MP.
“Sometimes we tend to dwell on negatives and fail to give credit where due. He (Momanyi) has launched a number of water projects across the constituency, something that is rare in other areas. Leaders should desist from negative criticism and join hands with the incumbent to spur growth in our region,” he added.
Momanyi's administration has come under scrutiny in the recently past with his fierce rival Patrick Osero leading the onslaught.
