The continuance voter’s registration exercise in Kiambaa Constituency is very slow, area, Independent Electoral and Boundary Commission, Coordinator (IEBC), Joyce Kimani, has said.
Speaking on Thursday, during the Kiambaa Sub County Service Delivery Co-ordination Committee (SCSDCC) meeting, she noted that since the last general election, in 2013, her office rarely receives clients.
The coordinator told the meeting, chaired by the area sub-county deputy county commissioner, Daniel Nyamiti, that lack of resources had hampered her office in carrying outreaches.
''lack of resources in our office has hampered us in moving out to register voters on the ground,’’ said the coordinator.
Kimani said she is currently liaising with the registrar of persons so that youths who are not registered as voters are directed to IEBC offices to acquire voter cards after picking their identify cards.
Nyamiti advised the coordinator to attend public barazas organised by his office, the assistant county commissioners, chiefs and their assistants to create awareness on the need to have a voter’s card on time.
