Kabete MP, Ferdinand Waititu and Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho clashed on Monday in Malindi over election malpractices.

Residents accused Waititu of bribing voters after which he was escorted by police to a police station before being released on a free bond.

At the station, Joho asked for the reasons as to why the MP would travel all the way to bribe voters. The two exchanged words before the police intervened. The situation was, however, contained before the youths could disrupt the exercise.

Other people arrested were the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) communications director, Philip Etale on ground of possession of voting material. Mwea MP, Peter Gitau was also arrested over allegations of voter bribery. This was opposed by the CORD party saying that the holding of Etale was not right.

The CORD leader, Raila Odinga told the CORD MPs to divide themselves at different polling stations in the area to monitor the exercise.

The IEBC report says that MPs from Jubilee and CORD camped at various polling stations in the area which could have disrupted the voters.
