The Hospital ward Member of County Assembly Mwangi Wamwangi has called on Kiambu residents to embrace the Nyumba Kumi initiative.

The MCA said that the initiative will go a long way in curbing crime and drug abuse among the youth especially during the December holidays.

Speaking from his office on Thursday, Wamwangi expressed his concerns following the increased rate of crime in the area. He said that he has been working with the police officers to curb crime but that they also need public support in order to arrest suspects and criminals.

“I am working together with the OCPD, DAPC and the security officers in this area especially Majengo to help in reducing crime rate among our youth. We are going to crackdown on the idlers in the area and we will ensure that they all face justice,” said Mwangi.

He asked parents to be on the lookout and ensure that they keep track of the whereabouts of their children.

He further urged the residents to embrace the community policy and Nyumba Kumi initiative in a bid to ensure perpetrators face the arm of the law.

He also asked local administrators like chiefs and their assistants to embrace the initiative and sensitise the residents on the importance of being vigilant especially as they approach the festive season where crime rates usually doubles.
