Shock and grief engulfed Matangini village in Mavoloni Location, Yatta Sub-County, after the body of a 27-year-old villager was found lying outside her doorstep.
Confirming the Friday incident, Yatta OCPD Edward Kipsang, said the body of the victim, Philomena Kavinya, who is a mother of two, had multiple stab wounds.
"We suspect the murder was committed inside her house because there is a lot of blood there. The lady is a mother of two girls, aged four and two, who happened to be in the house but we are yet to find out if the children witnessed the murder. The kids were however fortunate as they do not have any injuries,” said Kipsang.
Kipsang said the deceased had stub wounds on her face and stomach, which they suspect to be the cause of death.
He called upon residents who might have any information regarding the murder to record a statement with the police so that justice can be served.
He urged residents not to fear volunteering information as the move will prevent the culprit from committing a similar murder in the future.
The body of the deceased was taken to Matuu Level Four Hospital Mortuary.
