A Middle-aged woman was arrested on Feb 23 in the evening after she allegedly tried to assist another woman carry out an abortion in Kithyoko, Masinga sub-county.
Confirming the incident the area sub chief Kyalo Nzuma said that the woman is said to have overbled during the process.
Nzuma said he rushed to the hospital after receiving a call informing him of the incident, where he found the woman unconscious adding that after carrying out investigations they arrested the suspect.
The subchief and police officers took all apparatus used during the botched operation as she was rushed to the hospital.
After she regained consciousness the woman explained that the clinic owner asked her to pay Sh5, 000 for them to terminate her pregnancy.
"I asked the clinic owner if they carry out such operations and when she said that she would do it for me, I agreed and sent her the money through Mpesa, after which she would carry out the exercise. I don't know what might have happened to land into this situation," said the affected woman whose name could not be disclosed for safety purposes.
The suspect is being held at Kithyoko police station as she waits to be arraigned in Kithimani law courts on Feb 24.
