A woman was on Monday arraigned in a Nakuru court for allegedly obtaining Sh190,000 through false pretense.
The suspect, Hellen Wanjiru Muchiri, 47, is alleged to have obtained the money from Powell Gardner after she lied to him that she could help him get a farming contract with Egerton University.
Chief magistrate Doreen Mulekyo heard that on diverse dates of April 16 and August 17 within Nakuru town, the accused who posed as an employee of the university, obtained the said amount of money from the complainant on grounds that she was in a position to get him the contract.
Muchiri, however, denied the charges and was released on Sh60,000 cash bond pending the hearing of the case on February 1 , 2016.
In the same court, a minor was charged with breaking into a bar and stealing a sub-woofer and cash.
The minor is alleged to have committed the offence on November 11, at Thingira Club and Bar in Nakuru North District.
According to the prosecution, the accused broke into the bar and stole Sh4,000 cash money before taking along the sub-woofer valued at Sh4,000 all property of Alex Kamau Kangethe.
He further faced an alternative count of handling stolen property after he was allegedly found in possession of the said woofer on November 11 in Engashura.
However, the accused who told the court that he was 16 years old pleaded not guilty and was remanded after Justice Mulekyo directed that his age be assessed.
The matter will come up for mention on November 24.
