Civil society organisations have been challenged to fight for the withdrawal of Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) from Somalia in a bid to save soldiers and the country from Al-Shabaab attacks.

The leader of Langata Youth Network, Daniel Orogo, argues that the move by such organisations to prepare night vigils in remembrance of the fallen soldiers, as it was seen last week at Freedom Corner, seems more like conspiring to further impunity and injustices.

The vibrant leader stated that it is the right time for the president to receive immense pressure from the civil rights groups to compel him to change his stance and order for the withdrawal of the soldiers when its due rather than wait for them to die after which quick night vigils are staged in their honour.

''Instead of waiting for people to die, civil society organisations in Kenya should pressure President Kenyatta to recall our troops from Somalia now, otherwise,  we will all be conspiring to further impunity and injustice," said Orogo.

He added that it is high time the groups helped prevent disasters rather than waiting for such tragedies to occur before embarking on missions of honor to the dead.
