Alex Munyua, an official from the Youth Affairs ministry says youth are not applying for the Uwezo Fund.
Speaking during North Rift Inter-county Youth forum on Thursday, Munyua said almost 10 per cent of youths have applied for the fund.
"I urge youth to apply in large numbers for the fund and they should not live it to women," he said.
He said there is a lot of money at their disposal and that they should take advantage and apply for the same to improve their livelihoods.
"The problem with youths is that they don’t want to take forms from the youths office in which they want to get money without applying for the same, it’s not done that way," he said.
Munyua said the forms are at their disposal in the Constituency Development Fund offices and youth offices in the county, and they are only required to fill the forms to access the amount.
"After application, it only takes a shorter period of time for the youths to access the amount," he said.
The Uwezo Fund official said youths are given a six-month grace period before they start repaying it.
