The Cooperative Bank has taken its campaigns to sensitise youths to form groups for easy access of loans to boost their entrepreneurial activities.

The team that was led by Kisii branch Field relational Manager Mrs Jane Wairimu is expected to traverse Nyamira County in a weeks’ time to spread the message.

Speaking at Nyansiongo County Hall in Borabu on Monday, Wairimu noted reluctance of youths in constituting groups that could be assisted by the credit banks to progress.

“It is always easier for a bank to finance a group and that is basically our message. We want to see more youths improving their living standards by expanding their small businesses into enterprises by applying for loans. The bank is flexible and I think it is youths who are not ready to seize the opportunity,” she said.

Wairimu challenged youths to desist from depending on white collar jobs and persuaded them to join businesses by coming up with ideas that could be supported.

“It’s not possible that all of us are employed in offices. Business offers room for all of us to prosper. That is why as a bank, we want to support the young generation from being dependent to a state of self-sustainability,” she added.

According to her, only youth groups that had been in existence for at least six months could be considered for loan accessibility.

“It’s prudent to first form the groups, show the will of initiating projects that are sustainable and come for the loans at low interest rate of up to 23 per cent per annum after six months,” she added.
