Youths in Eldoret seeking jobs have been advised to be wary of fraudsters out to fleece them of their cash.

Speaking in his office on Tuesday, Uasin Gishu County Assembly Majority Leader Josephat Lowoi said there are many fake organisations that go round the country promising the unemployed non-existent jobs.

He said the con employers’ aim is to swindle the jobless of their money.

He said that there are organisations that have been advertising for jobs and calling applicants for interviews only to ask them for money.

“It is an obligation to inform the public that these are a bunch of con-men who are out to swindle job seekers of their money,” said Lowoi.

The Majority Leader advised youth not pay any money in exchange of employment.

“A good employer should pay for any costs incurred by potential employees before hiring them,” he said.

He added that “most of these organisations promise employees senior positions and high pay,” said Lowoi.

He further urged the public to report such incidents to the authorities for action to be taken.
