Kiambu County government has pledged to clear hospital bill for the Thika orphaned Bodaboda operator who died on Saturday evening.

John Kinyua, 26 was involved in an accident three months ago in Thika town and admitted in Kenyatta National Hospital where he has been suffering in critical condition after his fellow Bodaboda operators in Thika raised funds to ensure he was taken care of.

The deceased met his fate on Saturday night in the hospital and the group was denied access to his body due to an accrued hospital bill of Sh81,000 forcing them to contact some prominent persons in the area for financial help.

Speaking during a public meeting in Thika today (Thursday), Thika Bodaboda operators secretary Zack Mwangi said that they wanted to bury their colleague, but they cannot raise the required hospital bill.

Mwangi called on the Kiambu County government to support them in clearing the bill, a call which Eng. Sammy Onyango pledged to clear.

He said that he will organise with the county Governor William Kabogo to ensure they liaison with the county government of Nairobi to clear half of the bill then they will pay the rest.

Eng. Onyango gave Sh20,000 as personal contribution before other leaders present in the meeting who helped to raise Sh52,500 making it easier for the county government to clear the rest of the bill.

At the same time the county government is offering Sh50,000 to each family whose children were involved in Blue Post accident earlier last week.
