Eldoret East OCPD Nelson Taliti has warned criminals causing havoc in the area of dire consequences if they don’t quit their criminal activities or surrender to the police.
Speaking to journalists in Eldoret Town on Tuesday, said that police will not tolerate criminal elements in the area and that appropriate measures have been taken to boost security.
The police boss warned criminals saying that their days are numbered and they will be wiped out.
“We are telling criminals that their days are numbered if they are not ready to quit or surrender to the police. We are going to smoke them from their hideouts,” he said.
Taliti said that more security patrols have been mounted up in the area and urged residents to cooperate with the police by naming the criminals.
The police boss decried rise in crime in some parts of Eldoret but assured the public of their security.
Taliti said the police have mapped out areas perceived to be criminal dens and will pounce on them immediately.
The OCPD asked the public to work with the police in curbing criminal activities adding that the public can help by giving information about suspected criminals.
“We are appealing to members of the public to work with us and help in fighting criminal activities,” he said.
Taliti's security assurance comes two days after a businessman was shot dead at Action estate in the outskirts of Eldoret Town.
The businessman was shot dead at his gate on Saturday by unknown gunmen.
Investigations into the killing are ongoing with investigators calling for information that will aid in the arrest of the killers.
