A 15-year-old girl was on Sunday night hacked to death by unknown people inside her neighbour’s house in Muchakai village, Gatundu North Sub County.
Gatundu North OCPD Mr Benjamin Mwasaha said that Rose Wambui’s head was chopped off and her body left lying on a couch before the suspects fled.
He said on that day, the neighbour left her house to look for supper but on her return, she found the house had been broken into and ransacked.
“She then found the bloody body lying on the sofa with the head completely chopped off with a sharp object,” Mwasaha said.
Mwasaha said that the girl usually passes through the neighbour’s compound on her way from church to get to their home. The neighbour suspects that the girl may have identified those who broke into the house and may have been killed to conceal their identity.
“They might have panicked when the girl walked in because nothing was stolen from the house,” he added.
He said that investigations are ongoing and appealed to anyone with information about the killers to assist police in arresting the culprits.
The body was taken to the Gatundu District Hospital.
