Bodaboda operators in Kiambu Sub-County have been warned against operating without licenses and with fake licenses.
This comes after a crackdown was conducted along Kiambu road where eight bodaboda operators were arrested, five without any required documents and three using fake licenses.
Addressing the issue in his office on Monday, Kiambu OCPD Stephen Ng'etich said that the issue has in the past been addressed but operators still continue committing the offence.
The police boss said that the traffic department will conduct crackdowns to ensure the vice comes to an end.
He said such operators are the ones who cause accidents and escape as most of them learn how to operate motorcycles locally hence do not have licenses.
Ng'etich said that up to five operators are arrested daily for the offence, stating that this shows the amount of risk the sub-county residents are subjected to.
He said this is a great menace that should be dealt with urgency to avoid cases of accidents.
"We are going to conduct crackdowns everyday to ensure the culprits face the law. They endanger other road users and in most cases cause accidents and escape," said Ng'etich.
He however asked Sacco managements to also play a role in this fight stating that the managements should ensure that their riders have the relevant documents.
He revealed that criminal activities involving bodaboda operators have also been reported adding that those without documents will be the first suspects.
