The Kikuyu Parents Association has urged the Kenya National Examination Council to postpone the national exams as the teachers strike enters its third week.
Speaking at Give Hope Hall in Kikuyu on Monday, the association chairman Mr Clarence Chege said the strike had really affected students and pupils from public schools hence they were not well prepared for the exam.
He added that it would not be fair if the exam is done at the scheduled time because students from private schools are learning while their counterparts in public schools are at home.
The chairman said third term is always a crucial term for candidates hence it should not be interfered with.
"As parents in the region, we suggest the exams should be postponed by the same number of weeks the teachers will be away from school," said Chege.
Chege said most candidates in the region were from public schools because they hail from humble backgrounds.
He said most parents in the region depend on their children to change the fate of their families by ensuring they have access to education.
The chairman said as parents, they were really concerned with the situation because most of their children had been affected by the strike.
The parents called on the government to find a solution to the strike so that students can resume learning.
