Residents of King’ero village, Kikuyu Sub-County have been warned against selling relief food after receiving them from the government offices.

Speaking at a public baraza on Tuesday at King’ero, the area village elder Bernard Wamenju said the area was notorious for such cases as residents would receive food from the government and later sell it.

He said the food was meant to help them feed their children adding that it was a serious crime to sell government property that is meant to help other people.

Wamenju said they will be vigilant when distributing relief this year to ensure such cases are not experienced.

He said those who will be arrested will face the wrath of the law as they were taking advantage of those who really need the relief food.

"Those who have the tendency of coming to queue for government property only to go and sell it to others will be arrested and charged in court as it is against the law. No one should sell you such items and if you see anyone trading them, we advise you to report the matter for the authorities to take action," said Wamenju.
