Elected leaders in Nyamira County have been accused of abandoning projects started by their predecessors and which are meant to serve the community.
On Friday, Gesima Ward residents urged the current leaders to ensure the completion of the projects for their sake.
One of the residents, Simeon Nyabuto, said incomplete projects were a waste of public resources and appealed to the leaders to ensure their completion.
“I urge our leaders to make sure that all projects which were started by their predecessors are completed. This will ensure good use of public resources,” Nyabuto said.
The residents cited the stalled mortuary project at Gesima Health Centre as one of them.
They said the mortuary was started by former Kitutu Masaba MP Walter Nyambati and was meant to help the community as they travel long distances to get the service for their dead kin.
“This project was started so that it can help the community. No leader has taken the initiative to complete it. This is a clear waste of resources,” said another resident, Momanyi Nyarangi.
