Police in Gatundu South are holding a man for allegedly defiling a minor at Handege Village, Kiamwangi Ward.
Joseph Mburu, 23, was arrested on Friday after allegedly defiling a 13-year-old girl.
The mother of the minor said she had left home in the afternoon to go shopping and upon returning, she inquired the whereabouts of her daughter.
“Children playing near my house told me that my daughter was in Mburu’s house and I went there and upon opening the door, I found them in bed,” said the girl’s mother.
The mother said she raised alarm and her husband came and took Mburu to the police station.
The girl was later taken to a local hospital were doctors confirmed she had been defiled.
Confirming the incident, Gatundu OCPD Bernard Muli said the suspect will remain in custody as police carry out investigations.
“Investigations have been launched against the suspect and we will arraign him in court when investigations are through,” said Muli.
Muli urged parents to take care of their children and warned sex offenders that tough action will be taken against them.
