Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua has challenged local investors to invest in the tourism, hospitality and horticulture sectors so as to boost economic development of the county.
Speaking when he opened the Naivasha Business and Home Expo 2015 at Buffalo Mall in Naivasha on Thursday, Mbugua said the county government would support local investors seeking to pump money into tourism and hospitality sectors.
He said that the sectors are lucrative adding that investors should take advantage of the favourable environment and natural resources within the county to set up business.
The governor said the county was banking on both local and foreign investments to promote economic growth adding that his government has signed several development deals with local and foreign investors.
“I appeal to investors both local and foreign to feel free and start business in Nakuru,” he said.
The former Administration Police Commandant said that through investments the county will be able to address the challenges of unemployment and poverty.
The Governor assured investors of their security saying law agencies are working round the clock to maintain peace and security which he said are important for development.
He noted that recent security scares in some parts of the country had a negative impact on some sectors especially the tourism and the flower sector.
The two day Naivasha Business and Home Expo 2015 will end on Saturday.
