Viwandani MCA Eunice Mureithi has hailed the National Land Commission and the Lands ministry for initiating reforms to weed out fraudsters in the sector.
Mureithi expressed dissatisfaction at the manner in which Naivasha residents had fallen victim to con men and said the reforms will benefit Kenyans.
“Before NLC initiated the reforms, a number of residents had been conned of their money,” said Mureithi.
Speaking Friday at Kabati trading centre during a stakeholders meeting of Kabati Land Buying Company, the MCA said the reforms have transformed the lands sector.
“The regulations and guidelines laid down by the commission have now protected residents from fraudsters,” she said.
The MCA said prior to the reforms many residents had lost confidence in the Lands ministry due to the presence of fraudsters.
“The vibrant sector was at the mercy of fraudsters but now residents have confidence in the ministry and the NLC,” said ward representative, and added; "The formation of land commission is a right to those who have been denied justice in the sector.”
She urged the commission to streamline operations and also implement reforms that have been long-sought-after.
“Those with land complaints should forward them to commission to resolve their disputes,” added Mureithi.
She said the commission is keen on promoting alternative and traditional dispute resolution mechanisms in land matters.
