Gatundu North MP Kigo Njenga on Friday launched the construction of Kanjahi Police Post in Gatundu funded by the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).
The MP reiterated the government's commitment to proving adequate security to all citizens in every part of the country.
"The government has prioritised the issue of insecurity to ensure all Kenyans enjoy maximum protection wherever they are," he said.
Njenga said the new police post once completed will go a long way in enhancing security in the area.
"The police post will help in beefing up security by ensuring the residents live without fear and their property is protected. Security is the most precious thing because it gives peace of mind, and in the absence of security people live in discomfort and in fear as robbers find it easy to terrorise them.
The Inspector of General of Police, Joseph Boinnet, who was the chief guest, said security is always the key for a country to survive and develop its economy.
Boinnet challenged police officers who will be stationed in the new police post to be in charge of overall security in the area and work with police county commanders, county AP commanders and county CID commanders to enhance security.
The residents thanked the MP for demonstrating commitment in addressing the issue of insecurity saying they will now carry out their business without fear.
