Maendeleo ya Wanawake Mwala branch has defended Machakos Deputy Governor Bernard Kiala over the graft allegations levied against him.

Speaking at a press conference outside kiala's office, in Machakos Town on Tuesday, Margret Mwikali, the chairlady of the Mwala Sub-County Maendeleo ya Wanawake branch said that women in the area know Kiala as a God fearing leader and Mutua's accusations of theft and abuse of office are false and baseless.

"As Mwala women, we are displeased by Mutua's accusation against his deputy. If Mutua was sure of the claims, he should have taken the matter to court, instead of ruining his deputy's reputation with no proof," said Mwikali.

Mwikali claimed that Mutua was just using his deputy as excuse to justify his failure to ensure sufficient water supply in many parts of the county.

"Are the pipes he claims Kiala stole responsible for the water shortage being experienced in some parts of the county?" asked Mwikali.

The women called for leaders to respect each other and asked Governor Mutua to work together with his fellow leaders in Machakos.
