Solai MCA Paul Kibet Cheboir has challenged Nakuru residents to familiarize themselves with the county’s budget and monitor the usage of their funds.
Speaking today at Chemasis Trading Center in Solai Ward Rongai Sub-County , during presentation of the county's 2015-16 financial budget to Solai residents for discussions , Cheboir said every citizen has right to know how the county is using their money .
“The constitution gives the people the right to submit their views regarding the utilization of their county’s resources,” he said.
Cheboir said public participation in a county's budgeting process creates a better roadmap for the implementation of an all-inclusive development program.
“By participating in such forums, the residents will know which facilities have received highest amounts and funds set for vulnerable people among other development issues “, said Cheboir.
He also said that the push for the proposed Ward Development Fund Bill would help residents achieve a lot at ward levels.
“The bill seeks to draw funds from county's budget for acceleration of development of projects at grass root levels,” he added.
He said that constructive feedback between them and the county government would improve service delivery and proper budget implementation.
